Designed by Octavio Buigas de la Cruz on the Malecón facing the sea, the park contained a 400-foot long grandstand facing a stadium and a covered gymnasium. Both structures used the same advanced concrete technique and design. The slender cantilevered sections buttressed with the seating sections of the grandstand—on the model of Carlos Raúl Villanueva’s stadium at the Universidad de Caracas—mutate into the spectacular symmetrical section of the gymnasium.
